Kyiv capuchin temple is the first Rome-Catholic temple, which was built from the scratch after the October coup and the first temple on the left bank of Kiev. Since this part of the city evolved relatively recently (beginning from the 60s of the last century), its architecture is performed in the modern style.
Some dates:
June 13, 1994 – bishop Ian Purvinski creates parish on the left bank of the Dnipro under patronage of Mary, Mother of the Church. The first Father Superior was appointed brother Kazimir Guzik.
June 22, 1996 – Capuchins received the order according to which they were getting a site for construction of the temple in Perova boulevard.
November 20, 1996 - In the fenced construction site of the temple took place the first divine service conducted by bishop Stanilav Shykoradyuk.
September 8, 1997 - was consecrated temporary chapel and dwelling place of the friars, built on the future temple premises.
September 23, 2000 The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Mycola Yeterovich put the cornerstone at the foundation of the temple.
January 25, 2004 – Bishop Stanislav Shykoradyuk consecrated the lower temple. Reconstruction in the upper temple is still going on.
